Butt fusion welder is the name given to the process of heat fusion by hot plate butt welding of PE,PP,PVDF materials. 

The butt fusion technique involves heating two planed pipe ends against a Teflon®-coated heating plate. 

After a specified amount of time, the heating plate is removed and the two pipe ends are pressed together
 and allowed to cool under pressure, achieving the desired bond. The weld strength is similar to that of the parent pipe. 
The pressures and times involved are calculated based on the pipe diameter and wall thickness.

SKC® butt welders for pipeline construction

SKC® butt welding machines are primarily designed for, and extremely efficient at, welding pipe to pipe in the field. 

They take the load off the field operator as they are mainly constructed from lightweight high-strength aluminium.

The smallest machines for pipe up to 160mm feature a very basic design, weigh only a few kilograms and are manually operated. 

The larger field welding machines can mounted on wheels for portability. 

A crane is not required to lift heavy heating plate or milling cutter or out of large butt 

welders during the butt fusion process. 

Those parts are integrally mounted on the machine frame.

All models are supplied with an attachment to facilitate welding of stub flanges to the pipeline.

cloth surface to eliminate hot plastic adhesion.
